No. 28.
53617
Sir,
14.
2/
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HỒNG KONG,
13th January, 1938.
With reference to the despatches noted in the margin, I have the honour to recommend for your approval the following promotions consequent on the proposed appointment
(22) on 23845 CR Governor's despatch
No.769 of 30.12.37. Secretary of State's (21) on 17257 CR. despatch No.381 of 17th October, 1934.
of Mr. H. West as Superintendent of Crown
Lands and Surveys: Mr. E. B. Lambert, at present Assistant Superintendent of Surveys to be Assistant Superintendent of Cron Lands, and Mr. B. H. C. Hallowes, at present the
senior in the list of Land Surveyors, to be Assistant
Superintendent of Surveys.
2.
Messrs. Lambert and Hallowes are well suited
for transfer to these posts by reason of their qualifications,
experience and merit.
3. As regards salary I propose to assimilate the salary of the Assistant Superintendent of Crown Lands, which at present rises to a slightly higher maximum, to
that of the Assistant Superintendent of Surveys, so that
Mr. Lambert's transfer to the former post will make no
difference to his present scale of salary. It will however
be desirable to place Mr. Hallowes ultimately on whatever
scale is adopted for the post of Assistant Superintendent of Surveys in the revision at present being considered.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
W.G.A. CRMSBY-GORE, P.C., M.P.,
&C.,
&c.,
